Written by the "Father of Scientific Ethnography" (NDB), Boemus, Joannes, circa 1485–1535; size 3 1/4 by 5 1/4"; 374 pp., 19 lvs., 93 pp., 3 blank lvs.; blind stamped leather binding; missing fastening straps; binding is worn; groundbreaking and influential seminal work in anthropology. Reprint of the 1556 edition with the addition of Fides, religio, mores', first published in Leuven in 1540 que Aethiopvm sub Imperio Preciosi Ioannis of Damiao de Gois and his Deploratio Lappianae gentis. Title page (with old property of a Christoph Faber) reinforced in the left margin.
