Description: CICERO: Orations. Interpreted by Cum Chr. Cellarii (..). Cur. J. Wetstenii, G. Smith, & A.H. Westerhovius Amsterdam, 1735 (12), 390, 41, (10) pages. Dimensions: 5 by 7.5". featuring an etched title-vignette and frontispiece. Original vellum, blind-tooled, with gold accents on both sides. (New ties, a few old pen notes, some foxing, and stamp and name inscriptions on the free endpaper. Roman statesman, orator, lawyer, and philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 BC) held the office of consul in 63 BC. He was born into a prosperous Roman equestrian order municipal family and is regarded as one of the best orators and prose stylists in Rome history.
