Title page, first edition, 1808 issuev, [4], 198 pages., size 5 3/4 by 9 1/4" [2 p. errata leaf at the end]. Contemporary brown leather with a gilded spine. The margin sizes on the pages differ. published in 1801, translated from Portuguese, with the title "A Political Essay on the Commerce of Portugal and her Colonies, particularly of Brasil in South America." The English translation has only ever been published in one edition, according to Borba de Moraes, and all subsequent versions are "no more than the first edition with a new title page..."
