Name: 18th Century British Military Cavalry Officer & Horse David MORIER (1705-1770) Year: 19th Century Size: 50cm x 40cm Medium: Oil Description: Equestrian Portrait Of A Military Officer, 11th Regiment Of The Dragoons, 18th Century by David MORIER (1705-1770) - Fine 18th Century Equestrian Military Officer portrait, oil on metal by David Morier. Excellent quality and condition example of Moriers work depicting a circa 1756 officer from the 11th Regiment Of The Dragoons. Presented in a Lely frame. The uniform conforms precisely to the Cloathing Warrant of 1751 showing the coat without lapels and the turnbacks, collar patch, waistcoat and horse furniture in the regimental facing colour of buff. The identity of the regiment is also clearly stated in the escutcheon on the Dragoon's saddle housing in the form XI D.
