Description: Portrait of An Officer & His Mount, Surrey Yeomanry, 19th Century by Augustus S. Boult (British, 1815-1853) - Fine early 19th century portrait of a Surrey Yeomanry Officer and his mount, oil on canvas. Superb quality and condition rare early portrait with the cavalry beyond as a battle commences beyond the brow of the hill. Exceptional detail, signed and framed. Provenance: The Parker Collection, London The regiment was first raised during the French Revolutionary Wars in 1794. It was disbanded in 1828, but was in being again from 1831 to 1848. Apart from being part of the Home Army in the event of a French invasion, the Yeomanry performed riot suppression duties when called upon to do so. This officer carries the 1822 Pattern Light Cavalry sword, which was less curved that the 1796 Pattern. Measurements: 55cm x 45cm framed
