About 400 pages, or 200 leaves In good shape, with some wear. corner of the title page is broken. Archival tape was used to mend a few small tears. Beautiful calligraphy. Mirrors for princes, nasihatname were a kind of advisory letter for Ottoman sultans. They were impacted by the rule of earlier empires like the Seljuk Turks or the Mongols, by early Muslim history, and by current events. They draw on a range of historical and religious sources. Although Nasihatname gained popularity in the fifteenth century, it was based on previous writings such Yusuf Has Hacip's Kutadgu Bilig (Knowledge of Prosperity), which was composed in 1070. The Abbasid era's insa literature is one of the earliest sources of impact. Alexander the Great is mentioned by some. Byzantine Chronographia and Nasihatname, on the other hand, are not the same and were written for distinct audiences. Even candidates for the Ottoman administration commissioned Nasîhatnâme, one of them being the Phanariot Alexandros Skarlatou Kallimaki, who is thought to be the father of Skarlatos Voyvodas Alexandrou Kallimaki. By the 17th century, the texts' content was beginning to reflect a sense of imperial decline; rather than merely calling for a return to Suleyman the Magnificent's era, they identified specific systemic issues within the empire, such as nepotism, uprisings, military defeat, and dishonest Janissaries. Usually, nasihatname provide a very clear moral justification for their writing and presentation to leaders, be it realpolitik, morality, or piety.
