Description: A LATE 19TH CENTURY LOUIS XVI STYLE GILT BRONZE MOUNTED AND MARBLE TOPPED KINGWOOD DISPLAY CABINET, BY PAUL SORMAN IThe shaped top above a bowed glazed single door enclosing two glass shelves and a mirror back, flanked by glazed side panels, all outlined in gilt bronze, raised on square cabriole legs ending in foliate sabots, the lockplate signed 'PAUL SORMANI/10 r. Charlot Paris'N.B. Paul Sormani, 1817 - 1877, was born in Venice in 1817, and was a maker of fine 'Meubles de Luxe', working in the style of Louis XV and XVI, his work was described in the catalogue of the 1867 Exposition Universelle as: 'Toute Sa Production Révèle une Qualité d'Exécution de Tout Premier Ordre', Sormani exhibited in Paris in 1849, 1855, 1862, 1867, 1878 and 1900, and in London in 1862, winning numerous medals and is considered one of the most important French furniture maker's of the 19th Centur Size: w 63cm x h 154cm x depth 390cm
