Text in Latin Written by the Roman historian Lucius Annaeus Florus (c. 74–130 AD), an African-born Roman who lived during the reigns of Hadrian and Trajan.Livy compiled his history of Rome, which mostly covers the city's founding to the end of the first century B.C. This book's first edition, published in 1638 and edited by French classist Claudius Salmasius in the 17th century, contains both Florus and a translation of Lucius Ampelius' Liber Memorialis. This ancient index of first-century Roman history concentrates on geography, mythology, and cosmography in the context of Rome's Republican era.
