Description: The three portions of the 1578 edition of the Bible, Sacra Veteris et Novi Testamenti, Secundum editionem vulgatam Basel, T. Guarin, include numerous text woodcuts by Tobias Stimmer, a printer's mark, and one folded engraving. Rare octave Bible in good shape, 20th century, 3/4 calf binder with cardboard covers, 612, 251 pages., 3 lvs., 224 pp., 37 lvs., MISSING OLD TESTAMENT TITLE. Tobias Stimmer was a Swiss painter and illustrator who lived from 1539 to 1584. The paintings on the Strasbourg astronomical clock are his most well-known creation.
