The most well-known logic text of the seventeenth century was La Logique, which also established the format for logic manuals for the following two centuries. Specifically, the way it broke the topic down into the theories of conception, judgment, reasoning, and procedure developed a psychologistic approach that ruled the area until Frege's time. La Logique, which developed from Descartes' Regulae rather than Aristotle's Prior Analytics, was firmly and deliberately Cartesian, a manual on procedure rather than a study of formal logic in the strict sense.
