Francis Turner Palgrave was a British poet, critic, and anthologist who wrote both poetry and criticism. His Golden Treasury of English Songs and Lyrics (1861), an anthology of the best poetry in the language, was his main contribution to the evolution of literary taste. It was built upon a sound and spacious plan and was executed with an almost unmatched delicate feeling.
