Description: CEMELIENSIS DE PILEO, ANSELMUS SOLERIUS. Quàm profanis, caeterisque capitis tegminibus tam sacris. Aucta, emendata, novissima editio & figuris aeneis exornata. by Raynaud Theophile, Anselmus Solerius Associated with: Hieronymi Bossii, Commentarius De toga Romana. Excerpt from Philippo Rubenio iconismus statuae togatae, et praeter indicem geminum, quem adjecimus, ex Ferrario dissertatio gestandi. Both printed and bound by Andreae Frisii in Amsterdam in 1671 The first work is a chronicle of ancient headdresses, while the second is an analysis of the Roman toga. Dimensions: 3 1/4 by 5 1/2"; gowns and headdresses illustrated. There are fold-out plates. Frontispiece allegorical etched by R. de Hooge In good shape. The cover is clean, but the vellum is soiled. There are two missing plates: the frontispiece of De Toga Romana and page 181. Latin text featuring the bookplate of Anglican clergyman, clock enthusiast, and antiquary Henry Thomas Ellacombe (1790–1885).
