Description: "Bathing at the Close of Day" British School, second half 19th century oil painting on artists millboard, framed painting: 7.5 x 10 inches Charming antique oil painting dating to the 1870's period of the 19th century. The work depicts these bathers enjoying the cool waters as the day draws to a close. Classical buildings stand to the right, suggesting a Mediterranean port and landscape; certainly of British authorship but most likely painted whilst the artist was on their travels. Close to the hand of Samuel Colman (1832-1920), so most likely from his circle. Presented in a period gilt frame. Condition report: overall good and well presented.
