Description: Bothwell Castle, Lanarkshire, Scotland by John Laporte (British 1761-1839), signed lower corner oil painting on canvas, framed canvas: 16 x 26cm (6¼ x 10 in.) Fine antique Scottish oil painting, depicting figures before a sunset at Bothwell Castle. The work has a golden, romantic light to it showing influence from Grand Tour works of the same period, and influence from the Italian painters of that era.
