Description: Large 19th Century portrait of an English Pointer with game, oil on canvas by John Emms. Excellent quality and condition side profile of an English Pointer accompanied by dead game. Rare example of the breed in art and leading example of Emms work that has been in a private Devonshire collection for 50 years. We are in the process of cleaning and reframing and the signature has been authenticated. A similar composition sold at Sothebys for $52,000 recently. Unframed and needing a clean though we will update the listing once cleaned and framed. Measurements: 22" x 17" unframed approx
