Description: Sailing Fishing Boats On The Tay Estuary by Dundee, a fine Scottish marine oil painting from the early 20th century. The Tay Estuary in Scotland is the setting for the subject. The River Tay is the seventh-longest river in the United Kingdom and the longest in Scotland. The Tay begins on the slopes of Ben Lui in western Scotland (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Laoigh), flows through Loch Dochart, Loch Iubhair, and Loch Tay in the Highlands, then continues through Strathtay (see Strath), in the middle of Scotland, and then southeast through Perth, where it becomes tidal, to its mouth at the Firth of Tay, south of Dundee.
