Description: The French Recherches, Reveues & Augmentees of Four Lives. by Etienne PASQUIER Paris in 1596 [4]-377 [= 379]-[16] ff. Folio: 9 by 13.5". French historian E. Pasquier (1529-1615), a humanist magistrate, left a monument to French history. Large coat of arms, red morocco, gilt-ruled covers, and a gilded ornamental spine with raised bands—which is damaged as seen in the photos—all feature. The printer's mark on the title is a little damaged, but the contents is in good condition despite the binding being worn. - Pettegree (FB) 42346 referenced. Adams P-381. STC French, page 340. The text is in French (1st ed.) The French lawyer and man of literature Etienne Pasquier lived from 1529 to 1615.
