Description: Fine large portrait of an Elizabethan Gentleman inscribed in latin and date 1599, oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition for its age, fully inscribed and dated top left. The sitter is unidentified, believed to be a member of Queen Elizabeths court with the style of the attire and heraldry suggesting an Italian connection. Presented in a good antique renaissance carved frame made specifically for the painting. bears inscription 'ANO, 1599, 18 APRILIS/ IN NVPTYS VALENT*/ AETATIS, SVAE 30' (upper left) and charged with sitter's coat-of-arms (upper right) Measurements: 90cm x 80cm framed approx
