Description: Giovanni Rucellai Rosmunda Tragic Story Giunta, Florence, 1568. Dimensions: 4 by 6 1/8"; title page and page 15 margins repaired; later vellum binding; new endpapers 48-page book Jacopo Giunti dedicated it to Giovanvittorio Soderini. Written in Italian. Giovanni di Bernardo Rucellai was an Italian humanist, poet, dramatist, and man of letters who lived in Renaissance Florence, Tuscany, from October 14, 1475, until April 3, 1525. One of the richest men in Florence, he came from a family of wool merchants and was related to Pope Leo X by marriage. He was also connected to the influential Strozzi and de' Medici families. He passed away in Rome after being born in Florence. He was the grandson of Giovanni di Paolo Rucellai (1403–1481) and the son of Bernardo Rucellai (1448–1514). These days, his most famous poetry is Le Api ("The Bees"), which was among the first to be well praised in versi sciolti (blank verse).
