Description: 1 Antique English Victorian Silver Plate Egyptian Sphinx Cut Glass Epergne Centerpiece Tableware Stand. Each of the three corners has an Egyptian Sphinx standing proudly on it. The top has a lift-off cut glass bowl for serving fruit and exhibiting it. standing on three exquisite, curved legs in the style of an acanthus. beautiful repousse decoration along the margins of the geometric designs and vegetation. The base's Crescent-shaped initial hallmark, J.B.C & S.Ltd, dates the item to the late 19th century Victorian era of 1896. J.B. Chatterley & Sons Ltd. of Birmingham is the manufacturer.
