Description: Huge Early 19th Century British maritime scene of the shipwreck of the HMS Minotaur after striking the Haak Bank on the Texel off the Netherlands, oil on canvas. Superb large scale depiction that dates back to a similar version by Turner. It requires research to see if it is more closely affiliated to Turner but more likely a work by a member of his circle. Presented in a good antique gilt frame. Label verso. Measurements: c framed approx
