Description: Fine huge 19th Century Belgian portrait of a hound and her puppies, oil on canvas by Edmond Van Der Meulen. Excellent quality grand scale study of the mother and her pups painted for exhibition of as a private commission by the dogs owner. Beautifully painted and intimate portrait that is also a rare early example of the hound breed from the period. Painting has been uncovered from long term storage in a private estate in Wales. Needs a good clean to enhance the painting to its original condition. Presented in an antique gilt frame that could also be restored if desired. Measurements: 56.5" x 50" framed
