Description: One exquisite small British marine art gouache Battleship HMS Benbow of the Iron Duke class, Royal Navy, World War 1. HMS Benbow, an Iron Duke Class battleship, is the subject of this marine side profile picture. It is sailing in calm waters, and to the right, you can see the Ensign flag, gun turrets, and observation tower. Above it all, there is a gorgeous blue sky. Gouache and pastel in a medium-sized mixed-media composition on board-backed paper with a front protective glass cover. J. Ames, the artist, has signed the piece in black in the bottom corner. Approximately mid-20th century, dated 1945.
