Japanese Meiji Period Shallow copper dish with beautiful inlays and overlays of bamboo, Copper, and gold leaves. There are also Shakudo Blossoms, a cricket, and butterfly in gold, Copper, and Shibuichi. This piece is unsigned. This type of Meiji art with mixed metal is characteristic of sword fittings artists who became unemployed after Emperor Meiji decreed that Samurai could no longer wear their swords. This decree actually gave rise to a wonderful art industry in mixed metal which appealed to be the Victorian taste. Diameter is 10 _” or 27.3cm.
