Description: Large circa 1720 Scottish Portrait identified as of Lady Anne Hamilton (nee Cochrane) Duchess of Hamilton and Brandon, wife of James Hamilton, 4th Duke of Hamilton. Exceptional quality and condition study of the young sitter, probably a marriage portrait several years before her death during child birth in 1724 to their only child, James, the 5th Duke of Hamilton. Presented in a good antique gilt frame. Measurements: 37" x 32" framed approx
Provenance: The Hamilton-Murray family at Polmaise Castle, Cambusbarron, Scotland, and thence by descent.
