Description: Fine large 18th Century portrait of a Lady, as Elizabeth Somerset, Duchess Of Beaufort, oil on canvas. Excellent circa 1750 portrait of the seated lady with her powdered hair up, dressed with pearls and holding a letter. Superb quality portrait similar to the works of Gainsborough during the period. Good original condition, presented in its original antique hand carved foliate gilt frame. Unsigned and inscribed to label verso. Similar to Thomas Gainsborough's "Woman in Blue" who was also reputed to be the Duchess Of Beaufort by art historians. Professionally relined, good clean unrestored surface. Measurements: 94cm x 81cm framed approx
