Description: Fine large 19th century Scottish portrait of Flora MacDonald, oil on canvas by E T Butler. Excellent quality history portrait of MacDonald member of the MacDonald of Sleat who helped Charles Edward Stuart escape after the Battle of Culloden and along wth her family were supporters of the 1745 rising. In good original condition and presented in an antique gilt frame. The portrait would have been painted during the romanticised Victorian revival of important Scottish historical figures such as Queen Mary Of Scots and Bonnie Price Charlie.
