Description: Attributed to Jose Pancetti, signed lower right, oil on solid wood plate, thick 2,3 cm, 43 x 51,7 cm, original framed 58 x 69 cm. All parts are original and restored, the frame with gold leaf. Jose Pancetti (1902-1958) was a Brazilian painter known for his contributions to the modernist art movement in Brazil. He was born in Campinas, Sao Paulo, and began his artistic career as a self-taught artist. Pancetti is particularly associated with the "Grupo Santa Helena," a group of artists who were influenced by the modernist ideas of European and Brazilian art in the early 20th century. Pancetti's work is characterized by his depictions of the Brazilian coast, especially scenes of the sea and fishing villages. He was known for his use of color and light to capture the vibrant and atmospheric qualities of the coastal landscapes. His paintings often conveyed a sense of tranquility and serenity, making them highly appreciated by art enthusiasts.
