Description: Beautiful, huge 19th-century oil painting from the Newlyn School depicting a mother and child looking out to sea at distant ships. Exhibition-sized painting of a scene from the Newlyn School in excellent quality and condition. Strong use of light and lovely natural tones in the palette are characteristics of Forbes's and his circle's paintings. Measurements: 63" x 49" framed; original antique gold frame; old artist label verso verso stating "Cornish Valley" and partially ineligible (The dark........of the trickling wheel).
