Description: Mr. John Munro Italian School, circa 1850 signed and dated, inscribed oil painting on canvas, unframed. Superb and very rare portrait of a gentleman dated 1850. He carries a letter in his hand which tells us the fascinating story of who he is and a little bit about him - as his address was the "US Ship Cumberland, Mediterranean Squadron".
