N. Lemery's renowned pharmacopoeia in good shape with some little foxing (1645-1715). Featuring an engraved title-vignette illustration. Red and black title. two columns of printing; reference: Blake 264; STCN. -Origin: Playoult, J.J. Ledoux (manuscript entries on title and pastedown). Antique calf, raised bands on a gilt-ornamented spine, sharp edges (corners mended, rebacked). The French chemist Nicolas Lémery (1645–1715), often known as Lemery in his foreign writings, was born in Rouen. He was among the first to formulate acid-base chemistry theories.
