Description: Thomas Tennant Baxter painted an exquisitely large oil on canvas portrait of a naked girl by the fireplace in the early 20th century. Large interior nude study of the girl sitting alone while the dog snoozes by the fire in what appears to be an intimate and vulnerable scene. Excellent attention to detail in the room's interior effects, but especially in the contrast with the sitter's small stature and soft skin tones as they are lit by the natural light coming through the window on the right. framed and signed.
