Paris, Jehan Petit, 1520; size 4 by 6 1/3"; CLXXIV, 4f. (table) - 16f. (C Passio Domini nostri Jesu Christi...); forty-six lines of text in two columns; some old handwritten notes in the margins; handwritten marks and wet stamp on title page; eighteenth-century calf, gilt title and fillets on smooth spine, gilt edges; rare post-incunabula edition; text in Latin. One of the greatest Franciscan preachers of the late 15th century, Olivier Maillard (1430–1502) was also King Charles VIII's confessor. He gained notoriety for the harshness of his sermons, which blamed others for using vulgar language that was laced with misplaced words.
