Year: 17th Century
Size: 82cm x 60cm

Description: Fine large 17th Century Dutch interior scene with peasants preparing a pig carcass, oil on panel by Bartholomeus Molenear. Excellent example of the artists work and on a larger scale than you would normally expect capturing a group of peasants makes preparations for the carcass. The panel condition is very good with the surface clean and in original unrestored condition. Presented in a superb ebonised frame. Signed faintly beneath the table. Measurements: 82cm x 60cm framed approx
Provenance: With J. Leger & Son, London and Brussels, by 1932 (as Isaac van Ostade); Anonymous sale, Amsterdam, Art & Antiques Group (AAG), 9 November 1998, lot 49 (erroneously as on canvas), where acquired for the Wieg collection.
