Description: Peasants Playing Backgammon, 17th Century attributed to David II TENIERS (1610-1690) Fine large 17th century Dutch Old Master tavern scene of peasants playing backgammon, oil on canvas attributed to David Teniers. Superb circa 1670 tavern interior scene with the peasants crowded around a game of backgammon as a man keeps score on a beam and a maid brings in food. Typical of Teniers painting and uniquely similar to a different composition that sits in the National Gallery. No visible signature however is needs a light clean and hasn't been removed from its frame since it was acquired. Original antique gilt frame.
