Description: Fine, big oil on panel painting by Bartholomeus Molenear of a 17th-century Dutch indoor scene showing farmers butchering a pig. A group of peasants are captured and their preparations for the carcass are made in this excellent illustration of the artist's work on a grander scale than you may anticipate. The panel is in excellent condition, with a clean, original, unrestored surface. displayed in a beautiful ebonized frame. faintly signed beneath the table. Dimensions: Approximately 82 cm by 60 cm when framed. Provenance: By 1932, Isaac van Ostade was working with J. Leger & Son in London and Brussels. He was also purchased for the Wieg collection in an anonymous sale held by Art & Antiques Group (AAG) in Amsterdam on November 9, 1998, lot 49 (mislabeled as being on canvas)..
