There are sporadic small faded dampstains and few mended margins. Latin text. Among the most significant humanist philosophers of the early Italian Renaissance was the Italian scholar and Catholic priest Marsilio Ficino (also known as Marsilius Ficinus; 1433–1499). In addition to being an astrologer, he was the first person to translate all of Plato's known works into Latin and revived Neoplatonism, keeping in contact with the leading thinkers of his day. His Florentine Academy, an attempt to bring Plato's Academy back to life, had tremendous impact on the course and mood of the Italian Renaissance as well as the evolution of philosophy throughout Europe.
