Description: One Significantly Interesting 19th-Century Embroidered Tapestry French Royal Court "Playing Chess" A wonderful talking point that you will value. The two seated gentlemen playing chess over a magnificent crimson cloth draped over a table in the subject, a 17th-century scene of a French Royal court, are the main attraction. Your attention is drawn to His Majesty, the ostentatious main character in the picture, who is standing on a light-green couch and sporting a Cavalier hat with ostrich feathers and a red and white ornate waistcoat. Courtiers are positioned on either side of the chess players. The adviser on the right is clothed in a military blue cloak and stylish jackboots with spurs. He is bowing respectfully to his Majesty and giving him advice on his next move.
