Description: Large 17th century portrait of a lady identified as Maria Taylor Byrd, oil on canvas by Maria Verlest. Excellent quality and condition of the lady in a white dress and holding various fruits as an allegory of wealth and fertility. Accomplished work that has been previously authenticated and attributed to Verlest. The previous vendor acquired the work in the 1970's from James Bourlet & Sons who had sold the portrait on behalf of the family who were decedents of the sitter. Measurements: 40" x 31" framed approx
