Year: 19th century
Size: 41" x 35"
Description: Huge oil on canvas portrait of a Circassian Guerilla from the Russian School of the 19th century. A remarkable quality and historical portrait of a weary soldier sitting against a shabby wall while donning his papakha. During the Ottoman Empire's Russo-Circassian War, it ultimately resulted in their demise or expulsion to Turkey. Given that the Circassians withstood an invasion for more than a century, it was the longest battle and resistance in Russia's history. Dimensions: approximately 41" x 35" framed
