Description: Oil on canvas, finely scaled 18th-century English study of a cockerel in a farmyard. Rare early farm bird study of exceptional quality that is in unaltered, good shape. Most certainly painted by Sartorius, who also depicted a treasured fighting cock named "Dauntless" in 1777 that belonged to George Wyndham, Earl of Egremont. This study may be another of the Earl's favored birds. later framed with a false plaque. Dimensions: roughly 70 cm by 60 cm when framed.
