Description: Oil on canvas, large Elizabethan School portrait of a person generally recognized as poet Edmund Spenser. Half-length portrait of a young man in white cushioned doublet and lace collar in excellent quality and condition. Outstanding early portrait that was probably painted in 1626 after his death or was wrongly postdated. Edmund Spenser, the author of the epic poem The Faerie Queene, was regarded by the previous vendors to be this person. Framed Dimensions: approx. 40" x 33"
