Description: Large oil on canvas portrait of a woman dressed in a gold and white turban from the early 19th century. The lavishly dressed lady, wearing a white dress, gold and white hat, and a crimson drape beyond, is of excellent quality and condition. Excellent and distinctive example of the kind of historical portraiture typical of Lawrence's paintings; most likely the spouse of a merchant or ambassador from the East. Shown in its original antique gold-colored frame. Size: approximately 44" by 39" when framed.
