Description: Anne Dashwood, Countess of Galloway, subsequently the wife of John Stewart, 7th Lord of Galloway, is depicted in a sizable oil painting in the 18th century wearing an Elizabethan gown and pearls. The Countess is seen in a good-quality, well-preserved image wearing Elizabethan court costume. presented with verso inscriptions in its original antique gilt frame. The painting's aesthetic is consistent with the era portraits by Reynolds, who also painted her picture later in life under the direction of Angelica Kaufmann.
