Description: Paul Alexander Alfred Leroy painted a beautiful, oversized portrait of an Italian girl named "Bella" in the 19th century. Young girl in a half-length photograph, presumably Neapolitan, with the words "Spera Bella" written on the wall behind. Leading illustration of Leroy's work; he traveled much and is regarded as one of the most significant Orientalists of the 19th century. Exceptionally good condition save for a tiny tear in the upper right corner (we can also quote to professionally repair). Presented in its original antique gilded frame with the signature at the bottom left. Dimensions: approximately 95 x 80 cm when framed
