A significant early portrait features a half-length view of a young Charles Dickens sitting in a chair and dressed in a black suit with a white waistcoat and cravat. painted in the interval between Nicholas Nickleby's and The Old Curiosity Shop's publishing. Exhibited in its original antique gold frame complete with title. Origin: Sotheby's, London, reference SS913, W. A. Foyle, Beeleigh Abbey Measuring approximately 38" by 33" when framed.
