Description: Huge oil on canvas picture, dating from the early 17th century, of Ferdinand I Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and Montferrat and Knight of Malta. Beautiful image of the young Duke in courtly ceremonial armor at three-quarters of its length (identical to the armour worn by his brother Francis IV as Duke in a portrait circa 1605 before his death where upon Ferdinand succeeded him). Excellent age-related condition with a strong provenance. Size: approximately 56" x 47" framed
