Year: 19th century
Size: 34" x 29"
Description: Superb huge oil on canvas portrait of Florence Amy Marler as a child in the 19th century in England. Lovely quality and condition study of a small child in a black hat and scarlet cape, standing in a woods setting with a basket full of newly plucked flowers. A superb example of the well-known Orientalist painter's work, this is probably an early portrait from his time spent painting portraits in London prior to his travels, which would eventually lead to his becoming a very successful history and genre painter. Origin: credited to Lawrences of Blethcingly Fine Art; approximate measurements: 34" x 29" in a frame
