Description: Large oil on canvas painting by a British Old Master from the 17th century, depicting General Monck, the first Duke of Albermarle. It comes from Sir Peter Lely's studio. A three-quarter length portrait in excellent condition depicting a soldier who fought on both sides of the Irish Rebellion (1641) as a Parliamentarian and a Royalist. A battle rages in the distance, and this example of excellent quality and condition is shown in full uniform. framed. Origin: London, decedent's estate Size: about 64" by 54" when framed.
