Description: Large oil on canvas portrait of Gilbert Talbot, 7th Earl of Shrewsbury, dating to the 16th century. Large three-quarter length portrait of an English peer and baron, Lord Talbot. Dressed in court regalia with a grey silk doublet, black cape, ornate trimming, and the Order of St. George on a blue ribbon. engraved in gold type with the sitter's name and dates. Unframed, in excellent shape. Origin: The Earl of Shrewsbury auction Retford's Henry Spencer & Son Size: approximately 47" by 39" without framing.
